Dear Parents and Guardians,

April is here and our children continue to learn and grow as we enter the final marking period of this school year.  Our 5th graders presented the 4th Annual Wax Museum of Stars and were visited by parents and friends.  It was nice to see our students so proud of their hard work and dedication that they placed upon this project that was both educational and entertaining.  Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students continue to prepare for the NJASK testing in May and we are extremely proud of the effort and maturity they have displayed during the test preparation.

Thank you to all who attended the PTO meeting, Spring Book Fair, and our Family Math Night.  These events were successful due to the many teachers, students, and parents who attended and organized the exciting math games and fun estimation jars.  The support of our parents and the Beachwood Community is appreciated by the entire staff and all students at Beachwood Elementary.

On April 20th you will have the opportunity to cast your vote for our annual school budget.  This budget vote is an investment in our greatest hope for the future, your children!  The recent Comparative School Spending report from the New Jersey State Department of Education shows how the Toms River Regional School District is far below the state average in per pupil costs. This impressive standing among other districts in the state is an example of how the Toms River Regional School District is fiscally responsible.  Please remember to mark your calendar for this important budget vote so we can show that education is the top priority within our community.  For more information about Toms River Regional School’s budget and the Comparative School Spending report, please visit http://www.state.nj.us/education/guide/2010/

Mrs. Laura Ackermann has been voted “Teacher of the Year” by her colleagues for the 2010-11 school year.  We congratulate Mrs. Ackermann on this great honor and thank her for being a role model and mentor teacher to others within our building.

I look forward to seeing you all at our PTO Ice Cream Social on April 23rd at Sundaes from 6-10 p.m.  and our Arbor Day Celebration on April 30th at 9 a.m.

Sincerely,

James Ricotta, Jr.
