TRAFFIC SAFETY ALERT

·      The teacher’s lot (north parking lot) is for staff only.  It is not a ferry lane and children should not be shuttled in and dropped off in that lot.

·      The driveway in front of the school is a designated fire lane zone.  There should be no vehicular traffic from 7:45 A.M. to 9:00 A.M., and 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.  For the safety of our children, do not drive in this driveway during this time.

·      The Beachwood Police Dept. has strongly recommended that Birch Street be utilized to funnel automotive and bus traffic to and from school.  It creates a dangerous situation, if you cross in front of the buses or walk on Birch Street, during these times.  Sometimes children, not accompanied by parents, attempt to cross there, following an adult’s example.  If you live north of Birch Street you should cross with the guard, at Maple Street.  Those living south of Birch Street, need to cross at Elm Street.  We encourage you to set a positive example and use these crossings.  If you drive, please avoid Maple and Elm as they are walking zones.  Vehicular traffic creates a safety hazard for pedestrians and those on bicycles.

·      In the ferry lanes, please keep to a 5-10 mph speed limit and no passing.  Use the designated front cross walk to go to your cars in the afternoon.  Crossing between cars randomly is dangerous.  Young children should not be left unattended in your car.

·      Your cooperation is needed to keep our children and families safe.
