HSN Senior Accepts Letter of Appointment from US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA)

March 4, 2019 -- High School North senior, Christopher Quinn, received and accepted a Letter of Appointment from the US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). The USMMA is one of the 5 service academies, and requires more credit hours than any other federal academy. Christopher will also spend a year at sea, and upon graduation will have a bachelor of science degree, US Coast Guard license, and be a commissioned officer in the Armed Forces. He can then serve in any division of the military, or secure a position within NOAA. He will be required to serve for 5 years post-graduation or 8 years in the Navy Reserve.

Christopher needed a congressional nomination for acceptance, and he received a recommendation from Senator Menendez, Senator Booker, and (past) Congressman MacArthur. It is difficult to attain one commendation, yet he received all three.

Congratulations, best of luck, and thank you for your service!
