The district's True Blue Monday held Sept. 24 in honor of local police forces generated more than $5,000 in proceeds for Toms River Police Department's Vest-A-Cop campaign. At the Oct. 17 school board meeting, Superintendent David Healy presented Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little with a check for $5,057 dollars on behalf of the district, which will go toward outfitting five TRPD officers with bulletproof vests. Healy spoke about the partnership between the district and TR Police, and what a crucial role the department plays in keeping students safe. Officers publicly thanked district staff for going above and beyond in fundraising for the Vest-A-Cop campaign.
