Students at High School East who are part of the robotics team recently competed in the Southern Scuffle Qualifier in Williamstown, NJ.  The team, Raiders-ShortCircuits, made it to the semifinals at the competition and were awarded the Connect Award by judges.  According to the description of the award, it recognized the team for connecting with their local science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) community.  It also acknowledged the team's passion for aggressively seeking and recruiting engineers and exploring the opportunities available in the world of engineering, science, and technology.  

The competition was organized by FIRST, For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology, which is an international youth organization that inspires young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators.  Raiders-ShortCircuits competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) portion of the event.  It is a mid-level robotics competition. 

The team will compete in two more competitions this year, one on January 21st at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.
