At Intermediate East, Mrs. Morsch's cycle completed a unit on plantation farming and the importance of cotton in the southern economy of the 1800s. Students took the seeds out of raw harvested cotton and planted them. The seeds have been growing for about six weeks, and classes are hoping to be able to harvest the cotton in about four months. The students are enjoying the responsibility of the task of growing something from its beginning, and are all looking forward to seeing what it becomes. They've also enjoyed having the opportunity to use the new outdoor learning environment.
