Each year, the West Point Society of NJ recognizes our nation's outstanding high school juniors who have demonstrated exceptional performance in academics, athletics, community service, leadership, and moral character, and who promote the values of national service as exemplified by Dwight D. Eisenhower. Kevin Isadore received this award at West Point on April 21, 2018. Joined by his family, he was presented with a certificate and all were treated to a luncheon as well as tour of the West Point Military Academy campus. Kevin is a junior at High School North who currently serves as the Commanding Officer and Color Guard Commander for the Military Club as well as being a member of the Iron Mariners Robotics Team. He also serves as a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol. (6/14/18)

South Toms River Elementary School announced its 2018 Charles Poschl Citizen of the Year Award: first-place winner Nadia Bailey (right) and runner-up Danik Lynn. Poschl was a custodian in Toms River Schools for many years and was held in high regard by all who knew him; he was known for his positive attitude, courtesy, and consideration for students, parents and teachers alike. The New Jersey National Guard recently erected an obstacle course at Toms River High School South. The purpose of the obstacle course was to challenge physical education students to complete the course, including climbing the giant wall at the very end. A great number of South's students accepted the challenge and many were able to complete the entire course. (6/5/18)

Mrs. Monte’s Pine Beach Elementary fifth-grade class enjoyed a visit with U.S. Coast Guard Seaman Liam Boyle to further reinforce lessons on service in our communities. Seaman Boyle, a 2012 HSS graduate and PBE alumni, spent an hour with Mrs. Monte’s class re-capping his first-year adventures as an enlisted Seaman in the USCG, stressing the importance of hard work, dedication, selflessness and devotion to service. High School South's DART Youth Prevention Coalition (YPC) visited local pizza places on Thursday, May 10th to participate in a program called "Sticker Shock," a statewide campaign that aims to reduce underage drinking by limiting youth's access to alcohol. Students placed hundreds of stickers on pizza boxes that remind adults that it is illegal to provide alcohol to minors. YPC students and staff remind you to STAY SAFE this Prom and Graduation season. Student from Mrs. Monte's fifth-grade class at Pine Beach Elementary researched a charity and presented information to the class, which selected two charities to support. The first charity was the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for which the class, with the support of the entire school, raised $3,353. North Dover students from Mrs. Craig's second grade, Mr. Brown's fifth grade, and Mrs. Strouse’s class helped collect shoes for children and adults in the villages of the Dominican Republic.
