Sept. 20, 2018-- In conjunction with Toms River Police Department's Vest-A-Cop campaign, the district has announced that Monday Sept. 24 will be "True Blue Monday" in honor of our local police forces.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear blue (including jeans) "to honor the men and women who literally protect us each day," wrote Superintendent David Healy in a message to all staff. Individual donations of $3 from staff members (no students will be asked for donations) will go directly to police headquarters for its Vest-A-Cop fundraiser. More details about the campaign are posted in the flyer to the right.
Each vest is $1,000, and through "True Blue Monday" the district is hoping to generate enough proceeds to help the TRPD purchase at least two vests.
Toms River Regional Schools has benefited from a strong working partnership with police departments from Toms River, Beachwood, South Toms River, and Pine Beach, especially over the past year. "To date, this enhanced partnership has given our parents, students and staff an even greater sense security," wrote Healy. "In terms of our regional school district, we honor and appreciate the support of Toms River, Beachwood, South Toms River and Pine Beach PDs and are indebted to each of them for their service to our respective school communities."
