District Philosophy for English Language Arts

We, the Toms River Regional School District, believe in fostering a love of reading through close analysis of culturally diverse text that encourages all students to read, write, speak, listen and think critically. Through the implementation of a student-centered learning model, beginning with a balanced literacy approach and continuing through middle and high school, the district is committed to helping students develop critical thinking skills applied to reading, writing, speaking, listening and media analysis. Students will communicate effectively, collaborate thoughtfully and solve problems creatively.
