Mural
East Dover's art teachers Julie Heise and Karen Pomeroy worked together with a Toms River community artist Yvonne Yaar. This project took flight in August 2017 and was completed in April 2018. The 3 panels consist of beautiful butterflies and flowers. Students and staff carefully painted the cloth and learned the process of murals and color contrast. This mural was installed in the outdoor learning area which was built in 2016-17 with the help of the Ocean First Model Classroom Grant and the Grunin Foundation Principal's Challenge grant. The students are happy to have an area to learn and explore. Having this mural perfectly captures learning at its best...We all "grow and change" throughout our journey as a student. There is no limit to what students, staff and families can do when we all work together.

SPRING INTO READING

Our “Spring Into Reading” April Parent Academy event was held this week. Families that joined us shared a book discussion of “The Jelly Donut Difference” by Maria Dismondy which encouraged students to reflect on the many kind acts they have done and plan on doing. Students and parents were able to write these ideas on “sprinkles” to decorate our kindness donuts. In addition, families were given a rock, generously donated by Clayton Concrete that they painted that will be displayed in our outdoor learning space and garden. The highlight of the night was getting to share the giant donuts from Ob-Co’s Donuts! Many thanks to all the volunteers, parents and students that made this event a great success!
