Time Capsule Video

Toms River had a ceremony on Friday, December 8th to bury a time capsule that will be opened in the future. Mrs. Donovan's third grade class was selected represent our school, and they made a video about their lives in the year 2017. The students divided into groups, did some research to verify information, and recorded video clips to give a glimpse of their everyday experiences. Our Annual Salute to Veterans

Hooper Avenue Elementary learned from those who have served our country in an uplifting way. On November 14th, approximately 40 veterans from the Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard visited the school. Showing their patriotic colors, the entire school honored them by cheering for them and performing patriotic music in the gymnasium. Vets shared their experiences in a smaller setting when they spoke to children in their classrooms. Some brought uniforms. medals, photos, and other memorabilia. Students were able to go outside to explore a Coast Guard boat and an Army Humvee. Afterwards, the guests enjoyed one another's company in a reception in the Media Center where they were presented with tokens of our sincere appreciation for their service and for sharing their time with us.
