JOHN BENNETT INDOOR COMPLEX DEDICATION CEREMONY
Friday, September 14, 2007

The John Bennett Indoor Complex was dedicated on September 14, 2007 in memory of past superintendent of schools, John Bennett. Mr. Bennett's wife, son, daughter, and many other family members attended the ceremony that not only dedicated the building in his name, but also commemorated his outstanding career in the school district.

The facility is dedicated to Superintendent John Bennett, who from 1960 to 1977 led the Toms River schools from a small rural district to one of the largest in New Jersey, building nine schools for an additional 12,000 students, expanding educational opportunities, and hiring staff members dedicated to excellence. Educators hired during the Bennett era continued to lead the highly regarded district more than 30 years after his retirement.
