 STUDENTS HONORED AS HEROES Friday, September 21, 2007
The Board of Education recognized Ryan Bardis (Intermediate North) and
Anthony Chieffo (Walnut Street Elementary) for their heroic efforts in calling firefighters to a fire
at the apartment complex where they live. The boys used quick thinking to call the fire department
after they heard a fire alarm and smelled smoke. A policeman and firefighter suffered minor injuries
and the neighbor's dog, Foxy, was rescued from the burning apartment. The apartment complex
manager said that, "both boys are the heroes who saved the building because they heard the alarm
and looked into it."
