BOARD OF EDUCATION APPRECIATION

Tuesday, January 20, 2009 the Board of Education was honored by our students for all their hard work, dedication to quality education, and commitment to student success. Elementary, intermediate, and high school students participated in the event with cards and letters, poems, and live performances from the High School North Cheerleaders, the High School East Color Guard, and the High School South Band.
 

 

Board member Rich Longo was honored for twelve years of service by Mrs. Holland's kindergarten class from Citta School and Mrs. Lauria's kindergarten class from West Dover.

 

Board member Meera Malik who is also an elementary teacher in a surrounding district accepts honors from Cedar Grove's 1st grade class taught by Mrs. Szpiech. Mrs. Malik has served sixteen years on the BOE.

 

Board President Betty Vasil accepts congratulations from Hooper Avenue's quintuplets  who honored her for being "a great leader." Mrs. Vasil was also honored by Mrs. Yavener's East Dover's 2nd grade class. Mrs. Vasil has served on the BOE for sixteen years.

 

Board member Loreen Reimer, who is  also a high school math teacher in another district, accepts North Dover's honors from Mrs. Schfilliti's 3rd grade class. Mrs. Reimer is finishing her third year serving on the Board of Education 

 

Board member Linda Garvey was honored for sixteen  years of service by Mrs. Hennlly's 4th grade class from Walnut Street and Mrs. Ferlsan's 4th grade class from Washington Street.  Mrs. Garvey is a third grade teacher in another district and was excited about the banners and the cards with cursive writing.

 

Tom Baxter is a lifelong educator and the longest serving member of the Board of Education with twenty years service. He happily accepts honors from Silver Bay's 5th grade glass taught by Mrs. Romaanus.

 

Vice president of the Board of Education, Jamie Henninger has served fourteen years on the Board of Education as the South Toms River representative.  She was delighted with the honor from Mrs. Cannon's first grade class.

Pine Beach rep Mike Jedziniak has served on the Board of Education for seven years.  He was thrilled to accept the honor from Mrs. Ward's third grade class at Pine Beach Elementary.

 

High School North cheerleaders performed for the Board of Education under the direction of Coach Ida Clendenin and Assistant Coaches Megan Banach and Debra Cagliostro.

 

Beachwood rep Ed Gearity has served on the Board of Education for eight years.  He happily accepts the award from the Beachwood 2nd grade class taught by Ms. Lupacz.
