 A VISIT FROM THE CAT IN THE HAT Monday, February 9, 2009
First graders at Hooper Avenue Elementary gathered in the gym to welcome the Cat in the Hat
on Monday. Each year in February and March, NJEA's Cat in the Hat visits nearly 300 elementary schools across
New Jersey to celebrate Read Across America, sponsored by the National Education Association. Now in its
twelfth year, the program focuses on how important it is to motivate children to read, in addition to helping them
master basic skills.
