JUNE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

The Teacher's Insurance Plan
presented scholarships to Lacey Higley of High School South
and Kathryn Huryk of High School North. Both Lacey and
Kathryn were representatives for their respective schools at
the 2008-2009 Board of Education meetings.

North Dover Elementary students Mark Baker,
Eric H. Bell, Richard Dana, Zachary T. Mann, and Ricky S. Wu
were recognized by the Board for their participation in the
2009 Ocean County Math League Competition.

Intermediate
East girl's softball team was recognized for their first
place finish in the Red Division in the Ocean County
Intermediate Athletic League. |

Students from Intermediate
East, Intermediate North, and Intermediate South were
recognized for receiving Certificates of Distinction from
John Hopkins University's 2008-2009 Talent Search. |
Intermediate
North student Samantha Richter was recognized for being
selected to the 2009 South Jersey Orchestra. Also
selected were
Anna Tresvalles and Rudy Tresvalles,
also of Intermediate North. |

The Board recognized two
recipients of the 2009 Outstanding Heroism During an
Emergency Award, High School North senior Sarah Groark and
her teacher Arlene Swarer.

Joseph Kotran was
recognized for being the South Jersey Champion in NJSIAA's
Group IV 3200 Meter race. |

Catrina Shea and the Indian Givers
were recognized for their part in the 2009 Toms River South
Indian Givers 1st annual Indian Give Back Week. |
Three High School South students, Jenna Bitow,
Emily Nielson, and Erin O'Meally were recognized for being
chosen to participate in the All-State Chorus. |

High School South Science Teacher Kenneth
Hartzfeld was congratulated for winning the 2009 Scientific
Equipment Grant from the Fort Monmouth Chapter of the Armed
Forces Communications and Electronics. |

were recognized for their participation as the 2008-2009 Student
Council Representatives to the Board of Education. |
