Thanksgiving Celebrations at Toms River Regional Schools

High School South
National Honor Society students at High School South have been selling Gobblegrams for $2 to students and staff at the school.  With the money, the organization members will be buying Thanksgiving dinners for needy High School South families.

Mr. Robert Covello, manager of Foodtown on Rt. 37, was kind enough to supply the entire dinners for a discounted price.  The entire kitchen at the supermarket is involved in the project that helps so many worthy families during this special season of giving and thanks.

With any remaining money, students and their advisor, Donna Amon, plan to make a donation to the Ocean County Hunger Relief.

This is an ongoing tradition at High School South.  Last year, the organization was able to supply 40 dinners, which fed approximately 240 people.  The students realize that the need may be even greater this year as many families are struggling with the tough economic times.

“The Indian Chapter of the National Honor Society is a very altruistic group of fine young people who are anxious to help the less fortunate in the school community,” said Ms. Amon.  “I am honored and humbled to work with this outstanding group.”

High School North
The National Honor Society, Student Council, Cheerleaders, and Interact Club held an annual food drive that will donate approximately 2,000 items to local needy High School North families and the Ocean County Hunger Relief.

The All-City Orchestra will perform on December 18th.  All 3rd graders that will attend the morning show are bringing food donations and attendees from the evening show will also participate in the food drive that will donate canned food items to the Monmouth – Ocean food bank.

High School East
Various clubs and student activities are putting together Thanksgiving dinner baskets.  The baskets include the turkey and all the fixings for a family dinner.  The baskets will be given to East families who will benefit from the school’s help.  Any additional donations will be donated to the food bank.
