JUNE BOARD OF EDUCATION AWARDS

The Board recognized each of the Student Council Representatives:
from High School East Tess Lepore, High School North Jacquelyn Kemmer, and
High School South Abigail Brooks. Each Student Representative did an outstanding job throughout the school year.

East Dover fifth grader Katlyn Nichols was recognized for winning Third Place out of 250 entries for the Epilepsy Foundations poster contest "Heads Up for Safety."
 

The Toms River Elks Club presented a check donation to the Toms River Board of Education.

Gianna Perez, a Hooper Avenue Elementary fourth grader, was recognized by the Board for winning the Earth Day Student Poster/Video Contest.

 The Board recognized East Dover Elementary School student Maysi Salt for being named the Grand Prize Grade 4 winner in the Meridian Pediatric Network Calendar contest.

The Board recognized 4th and 5th grade students for their winning teams in the Ocean County Math League championship.
The Board of Education recognized the top individuals in the County in the Ocean County Math League competition. The Board of Education recognized elementary students that were selected to participate in the South Jersey Choral Directors Association Chorus Festival.
Intermediate South, East Dover, North Dover and West Dover students were recognized for being selected to participate in the 2010 South Jersey Honors Band. The Board recognized Intermediate East students who earned a test score equal to or above the average college-bound senior from the Johns Hopkins University Talent Search.
The Board recognized HSN student, Jordan Subai for winning the final
state meet of the NJSIAA Meet of Champions -Pole Vault division.
The Board recognized High School East student Amar Shah for being named one of the top 10% in the State in the Chem II category of the New Jersey Science League. His teacher, Catherine Applegate, was also recognized for her participation.

 

High School North students were recognized for placing 9th in the State in the New Jersey Science Chem II category. Their teacher Merrell Newman was also recognized.

The Board recognized High School South students for placing 9th in the New Jersey Science League competition for Earth Science. Their teacher Christine Girtain was also recognized.
Three very deserving graduating seniors received scholarships from the Teachers' Insurance Plan. The Board recognized High School South student Rob Whitfield for being named long jump champion in the NJSIAA - Group IV championship.

The Board recognized the Toms River Regional teachers who have been awarded Ocean County Teacher Recognition Teacher of the Year for 2010.
