All art teachers are invited to celebrate Youth Art Month. Click on the address at the bottom of this page to share your ideas or pictures of student artwork with other art teachers in New Jersey. In your message include as much information as you can. Here are some ideas of things you can write in your message:

1. Your name
2. Name and address of your school
3. Grade levels taught
4. Title of lesson
5. Grade level of students
6. Prior key knowledge and skills
7. Interdisciplinary connections
8. Visual arts disciplines incorporated in the lesson: aesthetics, art history, art criticism, and/or art production
9. National/state visual arts standards
10. Art vocabulary
11. Specific objectives: cognitions (concepts), skills, and affects
12. Motivations
13. Learning activities
14. Assessment strategies
15. Resources/materials/references

Don't forget, you can attach digital photos of student artwork to your message. Photos should be sent as email attachments in .gif or .jpg format. Once information has been submitted, participation will be noted on this web site. Have fun with the project and thank you for participating!

This project started in March 2000. Elementary art teachers in Toms River, New Jersey celebrated Youth Art Month by meeting and sharing lesson ideas. Visit the YAM 2000 web site to view examples of student artwork they shared. Perhaps it will encourage you to participate this year!
