Printmaking Design

Grade One-40 minutes
Materials: 12" x 18" black paper, tempera paint, cardboard strips, paper tubes, clothes pins, etc.
Procedure:
- Fold the paper into eight rectangles.
- Explain that wherever they place a print from a shape (such as a clothespin) it should appear in the same spot in every rectangle.
- There will be a different color for each shape.
- Each group of four will have four colors and a shape in each color.
- The students will try to build up a design by using each of the four shapes.
Core Curriculum Standards: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.6
Workplace Readiness Skills: 3.1, 3.2, 3.9, 3.15, 4.2, 5.4
