1.2 All students will refine skills by folding, cutting, and drawing.
1.3 All students will use art elements when creating their figures and drawings.

1.5 All students will view works of art representing various time periods and world cultures.
1.6 All students will plan and execute solutions to the problem of creating and adding details to their sculptures, and drawing and painting a landscape as a setting for their sculpture.

Materials:
Foil 12" x 12"; Scissors; Tape; Pencils; 9" x 12" white; Sharpies; Art Prints; Payons; Cups ; Brushes; and Miscellaneous materials for decorating foil figures.

Instructions:
1. Hang up prints of people and landscapes. Review concepts of shape and form discussed last week (2-D vs. 3-D).
2. Demonstrate how to make foil figure. Hold foil in a diamond shape on your desk. Crumble a piece of paper towel into a ball and place below top corner of foil. Fold foil over and squeeze around ball to make head and neck.
3. Make 3 cuts for spaces between arms and legs. Carefully squeeze foil to make arms and legs and body. Make adjustments (cut foil or add foil) as needed.

4. Write name on piece of masking tape and place on back of finished figure. Figures go in box.

5. Pass out 9" x 12" white. Students will use a pencil and attempt to draw a scene (landscape) in which their figure is participating in some activity (skiing, running, swimming, etc.). Outline everything with a sharpie.

6. Use payons to add color to parts of your drawing. Draw with more or less pressure to make colors light or dark. Use a damp brush to paint over the colored areas. Place landscape painting on floor to dry.

7. Decorate sculpture with fabric, yarn, sequins, buttons, toothpicks, craftsticks, pipe cleaners, etc. When finished, glue figure to drawing.
