Ethel Price Gaunt

Long recognized as an outstanding citizen, Mrs. Gaunt has given over 9,000 hours as a volunteer to Community Memorial Hospital and was active for fifteen years on the Beachwood First Aid Squad.

Recognized as Citizen of the Year in 1976 by Beachwood, Mrs. Gaunt was twice awarded Women of the Year by Berkeley Township and the N.J. Business and Professional Women's Club.

In 1969, Mrs. Gaunt was the first woman elected as an official for the Borough of Beachwood but will be remembered with affection by many children and adults whom she helped through the years as a supervising librarian in Ship Bottom and Beachwood and as an assistant librarian at the Ocean County Library. The Board of Education will name the library at the new Beachwood school, the Ethel F. Gaunt Library.
