Lewis H. Elverson

Lew has achieved many athletic greats in his career but probably none more spectacular than being captain of the 1936 football team at the University of Pennsylvania thus making him a member of the "Destiny Backfield" and earning him All-American status.

Ever a man of diverse interest, Lew was also a member of Mask and Wig and president of his senior class.

His career as an educator centered around Swarthmore College where he was Head Football Coach, Head Track Coach, Athletic Director, and Chairman of the Phys. Ed. department. He is co-author of Football Scout and author of With or Without Padding.

His many activities include advisory committees on youth problems, President of Swarthmore Rotary Club, and President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Hall of Fame.
