Thanks to your support of our fundraisers, the new Kindergarten Playground Equipment has arrived, and was installed. Mrs. Lauria and Mrs. Van Duyne along with their classes, took a picture of the new playground equipment, and sent it to the PTO along with a thank you note signed by all of the kids.
Thank you very much to everyone who sold Yankee Candles for the Spring Fundraiser. It far exceeded our expectations, making a profit of over $5,500.00. The PTO has had several major expenses this year (some anticipated, and some not). Your support of this and all our fundraisers has helped us through what could have been a difficult year. We will be able to continue to provide the folders and agendas, star student magnets and pins, along with other regular projects for the upcoming year. We are also pleased to be able to continue our major family events, such as the Carnival & Winterfest. Once again, thank you for your continued support!

A special thank you to Stephanie Rosal and Mr. Bayer for all of their hard work on the Original Artworks fundraiser. It was a huge success. Another special thank you to Karen Liguori for her hard work on the Yankee Candle Fundraiser, and Muffins with Mom. They were both very successful.
Mrs. Van Duyne submitted a request for a PTO Grant for $269.99 for storage cubbies for her classroom, and her request for the money was granted.
If you are a chairperson for an annual event or fundraiser, Claire Koerner will be contacting you, as she is creating a master file of all pertinent information for the PTO for the future.

A visit from James Hill, Technology Related Crimes Investigator, of the Ocean County Prosecutors Office……
One of the most powerful things that he said was that the human mind does not recover when exposed to harassment,  pornography or abuse, mental wounds are hard to recover from.
There are approximately 119 sites, like MY SPACE.  James  Hill works in the computer crime unit, that handles Child Pornography, Hate groups, gangs, and Identity theft, and more.
Signs to look for in kids that are involved with an improper site: child being secretive, needs to be online, up late at night, odd phone calls, unexplained money or gifts.
What can Parents do to prevent their children from getting involved with these sites:  set up rules for the computer/internet, know the friends that are on your children’s buddy list, be aware of the sites that your child is going on, check their emails, know your child’s username and passwords, spy on your kids, know your kids friends, talk to your kids, and be involved in their life.
Content Filters and monitoring programs, like  Spectorsoft.com can help parents to keep and eye on their children on the internet.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact James Hill at                       oceancountyprosecutor.org, or at 732-929-2027.
