Board Member Vacancy – Beachwood Residents (Only) Qualified to Serve on the Board of Education
NOTICE IS GIVEN that there is a vacancy on the Toms River Regional Schools Board of Education for the Beachwood Board Member. The term for the vacancy is September 2024 through December 2025. Only Beachwood residents who meet the legal requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1 are eligible to apply. Applications will be available on the Board’s website and at the Board of Education office located at Suite 304, 1144 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753. All applications must be submitted to the Toms River Regional Schools Board President at the following address: Suite 304, 1144 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753 by 4:00 p.m. on September 10, 2024. Feb. 9, 2023 -- Niko Heinzman, a fifth grader at Washington Street Elementary School, was presented with the President's Award and was named an honorary member of Fire Department District 1 for his volunteer work and support of the fire department. "Each day, Washington Street strives to teach our students about being "Respectful. Responsible. Kind... The Warrior Way" both in school and throughout our community," said Supervisor Kate Melson. Calling all bilingual (or multilingual) students! The New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy is a graduation honor awarded to students who have demonstrated proficiency in a language other than English, through biliteracy testing in reading, writing, speaking and listening. The testing is computer-based, and completed in school. The first step in the process is for students to indicate their interest by completing the Google Form linked here by December 3, 2022.

Statement on Upcoming End of Mask Mandate
As Superintendent Genco noted publicly Feb. 9, the district plans to transition to “mask optional” when the governor’s mandate ends effective March 7. We plan to do so, however, while remaining committed to the health and safety of all individuals, and to that end we await the forthcoming guidance from the Department of Health.
