July 30, 2025 -- Beachwood Elementary recently hosted a three-day Kindergarten Bootcamp aimed at helping incoming students and their families transition smoothly into the school environment.
Spearheaded by Principal Kim Sierotowicz and Supervisor of Instruction Jim Klass, the program focused on strengthening fine motor skills, encouraging social development, and familiarizing students with classroom routines. Kindergarten teachers Jenn Meyer, Brianne Sandberg, and Lauren Feigen led a variety of hands-on activities that provided students with a fun, engaging head start.
Parents also took part in workshops facilitated by Preferred Behavioral Health and received valuable resources to support their child’s readiness for school.
Special education teacher Sue Crupi presented on key kindergarten readiness skills, while interventionist Liz LeFevre collaborated with the teaching team to screen students and identify any additional support that may be needed.
“We wanted to create a welcoming experience that supports the whole child and their family,” said Principal Sierotowicz. Klass added, “Starting school is a big step for both students and their caregivers. This bootcamp was our way of building that bridge from day one.”
