Oct. 1, 2025- At High School South, Veterans Day is a big deal, especially since Toms River's annual parade happens in the school's backyard in downtown TR, with numerous students participating. Business Academy students at the school, however, noticed that the American flags that are omnipresent during Veterans Day festivities and throughout the school year weren't quite up to snuff, looking old and tattered. So they decided to change them out. Students broke into teams and divided the building up, canvassing classrooms to determine which flags needed to be upgraded. HSS helped fund the purchase of new flags, and students then dropped off the old ones at the VFW downtown on their way to lunch. From left to right, students Shane Gambarony, Harper Kartikis, Sadie Kartikis, Emma Turbach, Daniella Gordon, Connor Starr, and Christian Oberti stand proudly by the school's new and improved American flags. We therefore salute these students on a job well done!
