March 25, 2026- High School North's marching band has made its trip to Walt Disney World an annual affair, and this year they were joined by the Dance Academy, much to the delight of the girls and their instructor, Mindy O'Connor.

"I have been wanting to take the team there for as long as we have been established," O'Connor said. "We finally had the numbers on the team to go this year."

As much fun as the trip proved to be, it wasn't a vacation. Upon arrival, Dance Academy students attended a two-and-a-half-hour Disney workshop where they learned choreography for a performance they had booked prior to the trip. Then, there was a dress rehearsal and final performance with lights and stage designs.

The girls also showcased their stuff at Disney Springs, providing a 16-minute performance on the stage composed of contemporary Hawaiian, tap, jive, hip hop, and jazz, all set to fun Disney songs like Aladdin's "Friend Like Me" and “Get Ya' Head in the Game” from High School Musical.

It was a trip well worth the wait for O'Connor and the longtime but still growing Dance Academy program. See additional photos of the delightful dance destination below.
