Nov. 21, 2025- November is a month full of gratitude and appreciation, where feelings of unity and family flourish. It was therefore this month — last night specifically — that High School East's Hispanic Heritage Club celebrated its Annual Hispanic Heritage Dinner, sponsored by the Toms River Education Association.

This event featured a family-style meal, and brought together families, administrators, teachers, counselors, and community partners.

"Our goal is to have families and students participate in a rich cultural event," said HHC advisor Liz Rodriguez, "while deepening their connection to the school community and its services through diverse organizations specializing in mental health, nutrition, mentorship, legal services, career exploration, and overall health."

HSE staff, parents, and students came together to forge an informal, celebratory environment conducive to sharing experiences, culture, and knowledge. Parents, according to Rodriguez, spent the previous weeks assisting their children with hours of preparation for a diverse range of performances that served as the evening’s entertainment. This process gave parents a personal stake in their child’s involvement at school and celebration of a shared culture, and the event allowed them to participate and see firsthand students' efforts and hard work.

"We at High School East look forward to seeing our Latino community grow and become active contributors to our educational system," said Rodriguez. "Our diversity makes us unique and stronger, preparing our students for the challenges of a global society."

Rodriguez, Principal Erin Anders, and the entire HSE team made sure to thank the Toms River Education Association for making the event possible, the Hispanic Heritage Club of South Toms River for its ongoing support, and everyone who helped make the annual dinner a success, especially the club members for their professionalism and hard work.
