April 16, 2024-- The Special Needs Track Program-- a collaborative effort among RWJBarnabas Health Field of Dreams, the district, and Special Olympics New Jersey-- is designed to provide special needs athletes, including those in wheelchairs, from ages 8 and above with an opportunity to participate in instruction and activities related to Special Olympics events.

Practices began last week at the Field of Dreams complex, and continue every Thursday in preparation for a May 11 track meet at Long Branch High School. So far, so good!

April 19, 2024-- Training continued within the Special Needs Track Program April 18. New coaches Nicole D’Ambrosio and Nico Mercadante joined returning Special Olympics volunteer coaches Lisa Wilhelm, Christine Gillespie, and Lauren Hartzfeld.
"What a fantastic team this year," said Supervisor of Special Education Dana Weber.
Special Olympics participants continue to gear up for the May 11 event in Long Branch.
