Ambassadors Continue to Spread Cheer Despite Quarantine

The district's 5th grade Peer Leadership Ambassadors have been working on a project from their homes over the past few weeks. They created a video titled "From Our Homes to Yours" by submitting photos and video clips of themselves to share with people in assisted living facilities throughout Toms River. The students shared jokes, songs, their pets, and other fun tidbits of their lives that they felt would brighten someone's day during this time of quarantine.

This project was completed as an extension of several other outreach activities Leaders have completed in the past by connecting with Brandywine Assisted Living.

Now more than ever, the students wanted to do something that would help lift the spirits of those living in these facilities and help them feel connected by seeing some familiar, smiling faces.

The second project the group has been working on is called "Miles of Smiles," which is an ongoing effort to send positive messages, letters, and pictures to these facilities as well. Schools were assigned different facilities throughout Toms River to ensure the positive messages reached far and wide. Fran Pannella from Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey provided the contact information and communicated our project with these facilities.

The hope is that the Peer Leadership Ambassadors can continue to spread positivity, bridge the generational gap, and keep the group's partnerships strong during this challenging time.
