March 2, 2023-- Today is Read Across America Day, the annual celebration of literature that aligns with the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Schools throughout the district were more than happy to oblige. Guest speakers including board members, mayors, administrators, and parents read to students at elementary schools. Students and teachers wore silly hats and dressed in their Seussian best in celebration of today's book bonanza.

And proving we're never too old to read, High School East hosted a Stop, Drop, and Read event, encouraging students and staff members to stop whatever it is they're doing, grab their favorite book, and get lost in the story. Similarly, Intermediate East hosted a Ready ... Set ... Read! event this morning, setting aside 30 minutes for everyone to read, wherever they were or wanted to be, even if that meant on the floor, head resting comfortably (?) on the wall (right).

The below photo gallery highlights the literary fun which took place today and throughout Read Across America Week, always among the most anticipated times of the school year.
