June 8, 2026- The Intermediate North family had the privilege of witnessing a truly special moment on Friday, June 5 as Captain Michael D. Evanowski, U.S. Army, Deputy Chief, Military Group, U.S. Embassy Tirana, Albania, surprised his mother, beloved Int. North teacher Joann Evanowski with an unexpected visit home.

After spending an extended period serving overseas in Albania, Captain Evanowski reunited with his mother in front of her students and colleagues in a moment filled with joy, emotion, and pride. Also present for this unforgettable occasion was Mr. Evanowski, Joann's husband, and Captain Evanowski's father, making the family reunion even more meaningful.

As students watched the surprise unfold, they were given a firsthand lesson in patriotism, sacrifice, and service. They witnessed not only the commitment military members make to protect and serve the country, but also the sacrifices made by the families who support them from afar.

The outpouring of excitement and support from students was inspiring. Their applause, smiles, and heartfelt congratulations reflected the deep respect and gratitude our school community has for those who serve.

"We are honored that our students were able to share in this touching reunion and gain a greater understanding of the courage, commitment, and love that military families demonstrate every day."
