March 17, 2021 -- Each year since 2006, World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) has been globally observed on March 21. This date has significance since it is the 21st day of the 3rd month, and represents the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
WDSD is all about helping to raise awareness and educate people about Down syndrome while advocating for inclusion and the well being of people who have Down syndrome.
To help with these efforts, High School East is inviting everyone in the school community to WEAR LOTS OF SOCKS on Monday, March 22. Wearing funky socks has become an outward way that people show support of WDSD and help to spread awareness.
Be sure to check back for fun pictures from the day of our students and staff rocking crazy socks, mismatched socks, extra socks, or any combination of the above on Monday!
