July 27, 2020-- Ishan Shah, a rising junior at High School North, was recognized as the second-place winner in Introduction to Financial Math at the 2020 FBLA-PBL National Leadership Experience (NLE).
Ishan has been an FBLA member at HSN for the past two years. This year he placed second at the New Jersey FBLA State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Introduction to Financial Math, and last year he placed third in the SLC Accounting I event. Ishan also participated in the 2019 National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, TX.
FBLA member Jena Bhandari also placed third in Marketing at the SLC and competed at the NLE. Jena completed a Marketing objective test that earned her a spot as one of 15 finalists nationwide and then competed in a virtual role play event at the NLE. Aryan Kumar, Anthony Mardini, and Rutva Shah placed fourth at the SLC and competed in the NLE team event Business Financial Plan. These students were required to submit a proposal for a business, include a comprehensive financial plan, and present their findings in a virtual presentation. There were more than 200 entries for both of these competitive events.
There were more than 10,000 participants nationwide at the National Leadership Experience.
FBLA-PBL is the largest career student business organization in the world. Its mission is to inspire
and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through
relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.
Ishan is interested in pursuing a career in medicine or finance. “The conferences themselves are amazing," he said, "but our school’s club meetings are great as well. I have never seen a more organized club than FBLA and Ms. Tesoro does an excellent job of advising our chapter and keeping it that way. Each meeting teaches our members how to succeed in the business world.”
Local chapter adviser Ms. Jamie Tesoro is very proud of her FBLA members for their hard work and dedication to the organization and would like to congratulate Ishan Shah and all members of Toms River High School North’s FBLA chapter for their hard work and incredible accomplishments this past year.
