Sept. 24, 2025- The Field of Dreams Inspirational Hawks are the home flag football team for the one-of-a-kind, inclusive athletic complex in Toms River. The Hawks have two special needs teams comprised of 20 players each, with one team featuring players ranging from 8-15 years old, and the second team being in the 16-47 age range. The teams even have cheerleaders—a 23-member squad with an age range of 7 to 51 years old.

The Hawks are supported through NFL Flag Football and the New York Jets, a sponsorship that equips the team with NFL game jerseys, flag belts and flags, as well as footballs and other sporting equipment.

Their season is underway, and September has been packed with action at the RWJBarnabas Health Field of Dreams.

They kicked things off with a game against the Toms River Police Department Sept. 8, but then the Hawks faced off against football players from High School East Sept. 15 and, most recently, High School South Sept. 22.

From sunset to sundown on Monday evenings, Hawks games provide numerous special moments, highlights, handoffs, and hugs. And it's all made possible through the dedication and volunteerism of those committed to the cause.

"We can’t thank Coach Sandberg, Coach Martin, and Coach Wallace enough for their support," said FOD founder and caretaker Christian Kane. "And of course their players, who have great talent and even greater hearts."

Upcoming games will feature matchups against Rutgers wrestling, Manchester High School, the Jersey Shore Blue Claws, and more.
