Oct. 31, 2019-- Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and the DART Prevention Coalition visited Intermediate North to work with students and staff this week. Topics and discussions, held in small classroom settings, centered on educating and reinforcing the dangers of vaping to seventh- and eighth-grade students. Prosecutor Billhimer also visited students during lunch, having conversations and making connections.
The DART Prevention Coalition is a community coalition funded by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Office of National Drug Control Policy, and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The Coalition’s vision is for Ocean County to be a community where people make healthy choices and eliminate the abuse of drugs and alcohol. Community members and leaders address underage drinking, the illegal use of marijuana, prescription medication misuse and tobacco use through the implementation of sustainable prevention programs and strategies that affect community-level change.
Intermediate North will continue to keep a strong community partnership with both the prosecutor and the DART Coalition focused on keeping students safe and helping them make good choices throughout the year.
