The celebration was literature-based, and best-selling children’s book author Shalini Breault led students in yoga and meditation movements as families connected and bonded. Students then created crafty vision boards and walked the red carpet with their family and friends, taking lots of fun selfies along the way.
Intermediate East teacher Angela Germano helped orchestrate the event, and district Supervisor Tiffany Lucey was impressed.
“With options for students like taking a deep dive into literature and vision boards, stretching and breathing together, or posing with family and friends for a selfie, Ms. Germano’s commitment to organizing a fun and meaningful event for children is selfless, and I'm grateful,” Lucey said.
By the end of the celebration, many children had beautiful Sunshine Sparkle fairy hair and were playfully joking around with friends and family members. Those families voiced their appreciation as well, thanking Germano and her grant co-writer Nancy Jubert for their efforts. Additional photos below.
