April 28, 2026- Today is national School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and there's no way Toms River Regional Schools was going to miss out on showing love to its bus drivers and all of the transportation personnel who keep things up and running safely for students every day.
Getting buses going on the road daily is no small feat, and it takes a deep and talented team working together to make it happen. Nowhere is this truer than TRRS, which has the largest board-owned bus fleet in New Jersey. Buses are big and complex, requiring skilled mechanics to maintain and keep humming. Tiered routes are structured by-the-minute and need a patient and flexible — the roadways are truly unpredictable — crew to oversee and adjust when necessary. And drivers? All drivers have to do is navigate a 15-ton machine carrying the most precious of cargo safely to and from school each day, with extreme focus, kindness, and a teacher's temperament. No biggie.
Today we acknowledge the crucial role our transportation workers play in our daily mission, and we show our sincere appreciation for all of their efforts and the personality and joy they bring to their jobs. Thank you, bus drivers and bus personnel!
And we’re not the only ones showing our gratitude ...
