Jan. 23, 2023— A couple notable events from this past weekend saw students from High School South shine.

At Sunday’s Ocean County Championship swim meet, South’s team took home first place in the 200m freestyle relay. Sophomore Aiden Padham, juniors Brady Krohn and Noah Thompson, and senior Cal Narvaez combined to win the county title in the event. Thompson also earned an individual county title in the 100m butterfly, and finished third in the 50m freestyle.

On the girls’ side, South’s Sam Dugan was crowned county champion in the 100m backstroke and the 200m individual medley, the event in which she recently set a new school record. Dugan was also named “Swimmer of the Meet” for the Ocean County Championship.

Back on land, South’s Jack Harjes continued making a name for himself with the clarinet. Harjes placed fifth overall in clarinet at the New Jersey All State Honors band auditions this past weekend. He will showcase his talent alongside the best of the best at the New Jersey Music Educators All State band concert in February.
