SROs do more than keep us safe photo 1

Feb. 13, 2026- National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day is Feb. 15, and it's well worth celebrating. Because SROs like High School North's Vic Tomaro (above) do more than keep students and staff safe — they provide direction and guidance, are incredible sources of knowledge, are known to offer comic relief when it's most needed, and are often the first person sought out when there's a question or concern.

And if you're High School East SRO Scott Kenny (top right), you even help build outdoor classrooms from scratch.

SROs' mere presence on school campuses throughout Toms River Regional Schools provide both a sense of reassurance and actual, tangible reassurances when necessary. They're an integral part of school culture, leadership teams — Intermediate East, for example, had to include Officer Ed Antommarchi in their 2025-2026 team photo (bottom right)  and operations, and today we honor them!

Well, today OR Monday, we suppose, since the actual day of appreciation falls on Sunday this year. Nevertheless, High School East got a head start paying tribute to its SROs with a fun and super funny video the school shared on its Facebook page. Watch it here

Thank you for everything you do, TRRS SROs!
