Nov. 9, 2020 -- Shannon Asch, the art teacher at Washington Street Elementary School, worked with her virtual students in grades 3-5 as they learned about a very special former Warrior, Lorelei Colbert. Lorelei started a special campaign as she battles breast cancer called #1600acts. She is hoping to record 1,600 acts of kindness as she courageously blasts through her sessions of chemotherapy treatments.
WSS artists learned how to draw 3-D awareness ribbons that will honor someone special in their lives and pledged to perform an act of kindness over fall break.
At the end of class, Mrs. Asch picked one student to select a classmate who they felt embodied the Warrior spirit just like Lorelei. That student shared why they selected their classmate, and they both received Warrior Way pink tickets. One student described the person they chose as reliable, always caring about others, and making them smile.
