Feb. 24, 2022-- One year ago, the newly-founded Toms River Education Foundation made its philanthropic mission known with a $10,000 donation to district athletics. Yesterday, the foundation continued its support of enriching extracurricular activities, donating $10,000 to the district's music programs.

The donation will certainly be welcomed by a burgeoning musical arts scene within the district. Over the past several weeks, numerous students have been named to state and regional bands and orchestras, and the arts in general has seen a huge spike in interest, talent, and success in recent years. In addition to supporting these pathways, funding will help repair and sustain musical instruments, a continuation of the Play It Again, Toms River! program that started with a Sustainable Jersey for Schools grant back in 2018.

"We know how crucial the arts and specifically music is to a well-rounded education," said Board President Jennifer Howe, who also serves as TREF's vice president. "We hope this donation enables any student to pursue a pathway in music education with all the resources, mentorships, and experiences they will need to succeed and thrive."

Howe also proudly acknowledged that the donation was made possible by local support, including Dr. Mukesh Roy, who donated proceeds from the Metro Classic Basketball Tournament.
