Feb. 29, 2024-- High School South sent two teams of sophomore students from its Business Academy's entrepreneurship strand to the University of Delaware Venture Showcase Competition held at Rutgers University Feb. 28.

One team finished second, and the other won first.

Not bad.

Katherine DeBree and Kaitlyn Williams earned second place in their room/category for their submitted business venture. Their concept, FreshGear, is a technology startup promoting a system to prevent odor from being trapped in gym and sports bags.

Morgan McNabb, Molly Hilsdorf, and Joey Alsobrooks, meanwhile, won first place in their room for their social venture. That venture focused on Aquaclean, an international franchise centered around purification and the distribution of clean drinking water to areas of the world where none exists. In winning, the girls received $500 and an invitation to compete in the University of Delaware Diamond Challenge Summit Competition held at the University of Delaware April 25 through 27. At this competition, they will compete with teams from all over the world for the opportunity to win rewards of up to $18,000.

Congratulations to these talented, future entrepreneurs!
