March 6, 2026- We became reacquainted with Athena Petrizzo in late 2024 thanks to a feature story highlighting her journey from High School North Mariner to Radio City Rockette. On Wednesday, Petrizzo became reacquainted with her former stomping/dancing grounds, returning to her alma mater to teach a workshop to students in the school's Arts Academy-based Dance Academy.

Petrizzo worked in studio with teacher Mindy O'Connor's dance class, teaching them an advanced routine. Though challenging, it was clear the class was eager to absorb the lesson, and Petrizzo was incredibly encouraging throughout. Video evidence from the workshop (right) shows that the girls were quick learners.

From there, the group moved to the Maria Ressa Auditorium, where Petrizzo sat with the girls (left) and discussed her career, the challenges and successes, and provided sage advice to the aspiring professional dancers.

"In the dancing world, it's tough to imagine a troupe with more pop culture cachet than the Radio City Rockettes, and to be able to host one here who is a former Mariner herself is an extraordinary opportunity," said O'Connor. "And beyond just having the professional bona fides, Athena was warm, engaging, and truly connected with the girls in a personal way. We'll be talking about this one for a while."
