Oct. 24, 2022-- In 2019, Caryn Berman from the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), an organization that offers study abroad opportunities across the world and generous scholarships to help students defray the cost, made presentations to students at High School East and High School North. The result? More than 30 students received acceptance and scholarships for the summer program the following year.

Unfortunately, pandemic restrictions stalled that positive momentum, with only two students being about to travel abroad (Spain) in the summer of 2021. CIEE, however, is being welcomed back to the Toms River to help re-ignite an amazing opportunity.

Berman will return to the district Tuesday, Nov. 15 to discuss the program options. Her schedule is as follows:

  • High School South: period 2
  • High School East: period 5
  • High School North: period 8

The program is open to all students. In the past, students in grades 9 and 10 have received larger scholarships. Anyone with interest and/or questions can view the flyers linked at the right, view the video posted below, or contact World Language Facilitator Ann Gural at
