June 15, 2026- Can concrete float? High School South's AP physics students, under the tutelage of teacher Ken Hartzfeld, went to the Toms River to find out.

A cohort of seniors designed and built a canoe out of poured concrete to test the principles made famous by Archimedes and others. They launched their Concrete Canoe Project into the local river on Friday.

The results speak for themselves, it seems, as the successful voyage inspired some pride and patriotism (above). Nice work, sailors!
