Jan. 23, 2025- In High School East teacher Joe McGovern’s Advanced Digital Design course, students from the Engineering STEAM Academy designed a structure by starting with a scaled floor plan in AutoCAD. They then turned those drawings into hand-built models such as a police station, bakery, toy store, fire station, and other residential and commercial buildings. Each structure was built using foam core and balsa wood, assembled with hot glue, painted, and finished with interior and exterior lighting. When combined, the projects form a holiday village that highlights their individual creativity, problem solving, and hands-on design.
