Dec. 9, 2024-- Career Academy open houses took place throughout last week, beginning with the Arts Academy at High School North Tuesday evening, and wrapping up with the Business Academy at High School South Dec. 5.
"These are important and useful opportunities to tout what our academies have to offer to our middle schoolers and their families," said Director of 6-12 Curriculum Adrienne Gold. "The most common thing I hear from parents following these events is how pleasantly surprised they are at how rigorous and intentional these academy programs are, plus the resources and expertise they offer."
Such was the case at the STEAM Academy's open house, held at High School East Dec. 4. Broadcast journalism (TRSTV), biomedical studies held within the Anatomy & Physiology Lab, engineering courses, and pathways in environmental science are among the academy's offerings highlighted at the event. STEAM Academy student volunteers (right) were on hand to assist educators and take questions from intermediate students and their families about their experience.
The Business Academy took center stage Dec. 5. Parents, students, teachers, and administrators descended on High School South to explore everything the academy and its programs have available to future business leaders and entrepreneurs.
