Intermediate South team and representatives

A Saturday Spent at Stockton

March 18, 2024-- Students from throughout the district attended and competed at the 2024 Jersey Shore Science Fair March 16 at Stockton University. It was a strong showing all around as usual; all of Intermediate South's competitors, for example, placed, which delighted (above, top row, left) science fair coordinator Jessica Kurtz, High School East STEAM Academy senior competitor Jack Chen (top row, right), and the Seminole science stars. Ditto for Intermediate East (right), which saw all competitors place first or second. Intermediate North students were interviewed by the Press of Atlantic City, and nine of the school's 13 participants received recognition.

All of the students who placed advance to compete at the Delaware Valley Science Fair in April. Congratulations to the district's science stars!

Things to do

Representing Intermediate East (from left to right), Michael Kuhlsen earned second place in Chemistry; Owen Soheily earned second in Biochemistry; Isabella Cutillo and Chiaki Lux took first in the team competition; and Alex Kanterezhi-Gatto took first in Botany, which brought a smile to the face of science teacher Kelly Natkie.

Bryce Judge won second place and secures a place at the Delaware Regionals

Int. South's Bryce Judge won second place with his project "Layering Aluminum to Produce More Ionic Wind."

Intermediate South's Olivia Juralewicz took home an honorable mention with "The Effects of Temperature on the Distance a Softball Travels When Hit By a Standardized Apparatus."

Senior Jack Chen researched the use of solutions of escovopsis and ant waste on leaf-cutter ant foraging trails.

Intermediate South's Jaxon Gazia earned honorable mention for "Comparison of Puzzle and Problem-Solving Skills Between Adolescent Males and Females Based on Completion Time of Puzzles and Stress Levels: Does gender affect problem solving?"

From left to right, High School North ASR student Tiffany Chen earned an honorable mention in Psychology, HSN ASR student Leah Seidman won second place in Environmental, and High School South ASR student Eden Sanzone won honorable mention for Math.

Intermediate South's Hannah Mooney and Ben Witte competed as a team and scored an honorable mention.

Intermediate North’s Erick Rodriguez Garcia earned an honorable mention for Physics thanks to his project, "How do different paper airplane models affect distance?"

"How will the number of blades of a wind turbine affect the renewable energy generated?" earned Intermediate North’s Devansh Gupta an honorable mention in Engineering.
